[comp.sys.mac.programmer] Why does the debugger have to know?

ldo@waikato.ac.nz (Lawrence D'Oliveiro, Waikato University) (03/18/91)

I've been wondering a little about the implementation of the
interrupt function on the LC and IIsi. I gather that, when you
press command-power-on, some controller chip translates this into
an assertion of the interrupt signal.

So my question is: why does MacsBug (or other debugger) have
to be specifically updated to deal with this? Is it simply
because, on these new machines, the interrupt signal will not
get asserted until it has been explicitly enabled?

Just curious...
