[comp.sys.mac.programmer] Gestalt

In article <12565@goofy.Apple.COM>, ksand@Apple.COM (Kent Sandvik) says:
>
>68000 based Macs don't have colorQD, the rest has. Gestalt is the best
>way to test for colorQD in the long run, even if SysEnvirons does the job
>well (i.e. no need to check for the machine type).

There's a real big problem here: some of us *can't* use Gestalt because
we don't have access to the documentation. The only place I've heard of
Gestalt being explained is Inside Macintosh volume VI, which hasn't been
released to the real world yet.

If it isn't illegal, could some kind soul please send me the relevant info
on Gestalt out of IM VI? Buying it from APDA is out of the question (if
it's even available, since it hasn't actually been released yet...) for
financial reasons.  I'm a college student ==> I'm poor.  :-(
