I response to Mr. Porter's article that you have to buy a Commodore data recorder, I say BULL! I have designed and built a cassette interface for my Vic-20 that uses any good and cheap cassette tape player. I have been using my interface for over a year and have experienced no problems in writing or reading tapes. The circuit uses OP-Amps. in the input and ouput sections for filtering the Vic's digital signals. The OP-Amps. also have a set threshold so spurious noise does not trigger them. Also a source for a good cassette interface is Protecto Ent. in Barrington, Ill. They have quite an inventory of hardware and software for Commodore computers.
