Thanks to all those who sent mail! I've gotten the picture in the window now, and it turns out that the solution to my difficulties was not to follow the example on pages 88 - 89 of Volumn V of Inside Macintosh. Once I took out the "myProcs.getPicProc := @GetPICTData" type of business everything worked great. Either replacing the standard getPicProc with the "GetPICTData" routine, something which I did blindly based on faith in Inside Macintosh, was not in fact the right thing to do, or I did it wrong. Does anyone out there understand why Inside Mac V pp.88-89 recommends replacing the standard routine? I don't understand the stuff at the top of page 89 that says DrawPicture has to "make repeated calls to getPicProc to get actual picture opcodes and data". If the replacement is necessary, I'd like to understand why, and I may need help implementing it in MPW C++. If it's not necessary (ancient bug now repaired? not applicable to MPW C++?), I'll just chalk up another one to my foolish cookbooking. -- David E.
