I have several questions regarding programming on various types of mac: Does anyone know whether the Mac Classic has an alternate screen buffer (or whether any of the new macs do, and if so, which)? Does anyone know whether any timing routines that are based on the VIA chip (which I have used only on "old" macs til now) would work on any of the new machines without requiring revision? Finally, if you were setting up a lab in which you would do software development on a big Mac (say, Mac IIsi, ci or fx) that would later be used (as a compiled application) on smaller macs (either SE/30 or any of the new macs), what would be the most compatible arrangement you would choose? That is, which of the Mac II's would you choose and which of the smaller macs so that there would be the best compatibility (i.e., when a program runs on the Mac II whatever, there would be no glitches when running on the smaller machines)? I haven't done too much research on this yet, but will soon be purchasing several machines, and I would appreciate any advice. (Maybe I needn't even worry, but I keep reading occasional postings about software incompatabilities with the IIsi, etc.) Thanks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Maria I.
