I recently posted a 100+ line bulletin to the above newsgroups, separately. I did this because the documentation for POSTNEWS said you could send to multiple newsgroups but DID NOT SPECIFY THAT SPACES BETWEEN COMMAS WERE NOT ALLOWED. I used spaces. It did not work. I wanted to get the bulletin out to each group, so I posted it separately. I must have ruined a lot of people's days. I got all kinds of nasty responses about wasting valuable disk space and telephone time. I got several complaints about my cute little boxes. I thought boxes would break up the text a little. I personally dno't like reading page after page of solid test, especially on a CRT screen. I also got one cmoplaint about the title "Business Opportunity". The respondant said that commercial activities has little place on the net. I agree, but I was not engaging in commercial acticity, I was merely sharing with you an opportunity that I happened to hear about. If you are going to gripe about commercial activity, then lets also discuss net.jobs. I have also read several articles about where to buy spare parts for IBM PC's and Commodore computers. If you are averse to making money, too bad. But there were some people who were interested, and I will be getting back to them personally. Somebody incorrectly guessed that I was a computer novice who liked to make a lot of people mad. I assure you, sir, that I am quite neither. I am new to UNIX (6 months) and am as confused by its sketchy documentation as the rest of you were when you first started. So, have a little patience, already. If UNIX gets as big as Jean Yates et al say it will be, we will be getting a lot more refugees from the mysterious worlds of OS/MVS, DOS/VSE, VMS, CP/M, MS-DOS, etc. They will make a few mistakes too. Are we going to jump down their throats too? Talk about nettiquette? Sheeech!

I concur completely with John Crane's article. I too am relatively new to UNIX and uucp-news. It's a big, brave world for all of us who are cp/m refugees, and we're going to make a few mistakes along the way. Instead of being snotty, you should be helpful, so we can achieve UNIX- craftsman stage as soon as possible (and spread the word to our unenlightened friends). No doubt, there are some purists who don't want us, but the UNIX world will be the better for us. If you don't feel that way, then probably your grandparents were among the Yankees who didn't exactly welcome all those refugees from Europe, who spoke funny languages or had curly hair or whatever.
