I need to store information from an application between sessions. That is to say, I need to be able to restore certain variables values when the program is next run. There are several alternatives, but I have no basis on which to compare them. I am hoping that someone else might. The alternatives I have found are to store the information in: 1) a resource in the application file; 2) the application data in the resource fork of the application file; 3) and 4) as in 1 and 2, but using a separate "Preferences" file; and 5) the data fork of a separate file.
