[comp.sys.mac.programmer] WWDC Dinner complications

peirce@outpost.UUCP (Michael Peirce) (05/10/91)

We've got a little problem.

It seems that someone else has gotten to Gordon Biersch for Tuesday
night :-( (You see, there is this company sponsoring a conference in
town that week and they've booked GB's - who could that be???)

We CAN have Thursday, but since we're such a big group (45 people
and counting) and Thursday is usually a big night for them anyway,
they want us to commit to a $35 per person deal. It does include
full dinner with appitizers and dessert AND ALL THE BEER YOU CAN DRINK
(they have excellent beer brewed on site), but even so it sounds a little
steep.

We have couple of options as I see it.

(1) Go with thursday night and pay $35 a head. This will probably
cut down on the group two ways: some can't make it Thursday and some
might not be able to afford $35.

(2) Try to book Joe's.

(3) Try to book another local place (Gordon Biersch's manager recommended
we try Victoria Garden or Eulipia. I've never been either place so
I don't know...)

Another idea would be to meet Tuesday (and Thursday?) and split up to
hit a couple of restaurants as smaller groups - i.e. no reservations
required.

As far as meeting goes. I can put up a couple of announcements around
the WWDC in the obvious places concerning where and when to meet.
Probably the main entrance or by the pinball machines...

As time is getting short I need to hear what people want real soon
now. Either email be back or even give me a quick phone call if you
have a strong opinion either way.

Sorry about these complications. (This *is* getting complicated...)
