Dear netlanders, I am posting to this newsgroup because I am an absolute beginner in mac pro- gramming. With a friend of mine I try to control a compugraphics machine and the first thing we want to do is to find out which fonts are resident. This machine understands postscript and I found a hint about a postscript command '?fontlist' but I have no idea how to use it in order to receive the information. The machine is connected to our Apple-Talk and I think I have to use the printer manager and maybe some other stuff. The "Inside MacIntoshs" are very nice but there is too much information and no code to get an idea how to use all these functions. I am not even sure if I have explained my problem well enough that someone could post or mail a solution. Thanx in advance, Mirko. brandner@iao.fhg.de

This may seem like trivial questions to you but I'm new at programming on the Mac and didn't know where else to turn. I have a couple of questions : 1 - I want the user to pick the font and size using PopUpMenus. I know what a popup menu is but it is treated as an ordinary menu? How do I set it up? Is it part of the Menu Manager? 2 - How do I set the Icon for a file? What do I use FREF and BNDL resources for? 3 - I want to have an About box with a message scrolled up. It would be nice to have the text scrolled in at the bottom of the window instead of just suddenly appearing when the complete string is within the visRgn. Is there an easy way to do this. -- Ciao, Martin Bergek -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
