[comp.sys.mac.programmer] how do you lock a folder??

How do you write-protect a folder?  Is there an appl. that already does
this? (I don't want to password protect the folder, just lock it and its 
contents.)  If there isn't an app. already out there, how might a novice
mac programmer go about doing this?
