I was in class yesterday and I wondered if it was possible to emulate 24bit color in software. I'm running a IIci w/8bit color which is fine for most everything, except viewing high quality pictures. I collect GIF's and pictures in other formats(~110 megs in GIF'sa alone) and I have some that are 24bit color. Unfortunately I can only view them when I dither them to 256. I realize that any emulation of such a monster would be horrendously slow, but for what I want, it would be adequate. Since I have never even heard of any such animal, sharwware or commercial, I thought that it just might be impossible, but then I thought that if they can emulate a 286 with vga, then why not 24bit color card? I'm just learning how to program Mac Applications, so pardon my ignorance if this is a stupid question... steve hasses@prism.cs.orst.edu
