# According to an article in today's Wall Street Journal, J.C.Penney is canceling all remaining orders for Coleco's Adam home computer. The reason given is that the Adam repeatedly flunked quality tests. A manager of one Penneys catalog center in New Jersey said that the first 30 Adams that Penneys received were defective. Coleco said that less that 10 % of all Adams shipped have been returned as defective. (A pretty high figure considering how short the shipping time has been) Coleco also acknowledged that it has found six flaws in the Basic language and word processing software included with the machine. They said that they fix all flaws as they find them and will replace units of dissatisfied customers. However, they said that these flaws are the type that would only be found by customers using them in sophisticated applications and so the company has no plans to recall machines already shipped. J.C.Penney has said that it will not be selling home computers at its stores after Feb. 1, 1984 and that the only computer it will carry in its next catalog will be an ATARI.
