[comp.sys.mac.programmer] BinHex source for economical download

Q: Wouldn't it be more economical for downloading over modem to send the 8
bit Stuffed or Compressed format of a file because of the modem?

Most modems these days are 8 bit data bytes. With the other parity and stop
bits, the transfer would be wasting about 1/10th or 10% of the potential
capacity. Either setting the modem on both sides to 7 bit, or transfering full
8 bit files in binary mode of kermit or whatever, would be optimal wouldn't
you think?

So, if this is true, the would someone have some 'C' source code for
unBinHexing files to save me the download time on my 2400 baud modem?

PS. You may send it in .HQX format if you want. :-)
