[comp.sys.mac.programmer] ResEdit 2.1 and BNDLs

stevep@wrq.com (Steve Poole) (05/23/91)

Anyone else experiencing a ResEdit crash when attempting to open a
BNDL resource? Happens on a II, a IIci, System 6.0.5, and System 7.0.
I'd be pleased with a workaround other than avoiding the template and
building it manually.

Thanks.

Yes. I experienced the same behavior. How to get around it? Use a
Resedit 2.1b version. The bug does not appear in them.

Enjoy.

ResEdit 2.1 has been released several ways. One of the release mechanisms
introduced a couple bad bytes in the file which causes the BNDL editor to
crash. Find another source for ResEdit 2.1. And that problem will be
solved.

It also does not appeas in ResEdit 2.1 final as found on
E.T.O _or_ on the 7.0 "golden" final release. It's the
version on 7.0b4 that was damaged by a cosmic ray or something.

I've had a copy with the BNDL-problem and later recieved a new copy where
indeed the BNDL-problem was fixed, but instead you couldn't change the ID of
the resources.

No problem with ResEdit 2.1B3 though, which is the one I'm currently using.
