[comp.sys.mac.programmer] SndStartFilePlay of a resource

ldo@waikato.ac.nz (Lawrence D'Oliveiro, Waikato University) (06/10/91)

I've just found out that the SndStartFilePlay call for playing asynchronous
sound, which works for both AIFF files and resources, doesn't quite work
like SndPlay on a resource.

When you call SndStartFilePlay on a resource, it looks for the first
soundCmd or bufferCmd, and plays the sound data attached to that. That's
all. Contrast this with SndPlay, which plays the full set of sound
commands in the sound resource.

Just thought I'd let people know. I don't think there's any mention
of this difference in Inside Mac Vol VI.
