This topic keeps on poping up. Maybe the misleading subject line (LDEF)
had something to do with its persistence. The Alias Manager is available
to system extensions, but for some reason the part of the OS which opens
them doesn't call ResolveAlias. To the rescue: INITLoader, an official
(at least semi-official) Apple system extension, distributed on the
beta and golden CDs, and available on various BBSs and ftp sites.
