I need to write a chooser-level print driver for a Lasertechnics grey-scale printer with a SCSI interface. I've looked in Inside Mac - there's lots of information about how applications should use the Print Manager, but very little information about how to write a print driver. The printer itself has a limited command set - I expect the Mac will do all quickdraw to bitmap conversions, much like the drivers for the IISC and Personal Laserwriter SC. Obviously the easiest way to proceed is to obtain an existing print driver and modify it to work with my printer. I'm seeking information about source code to drivers that may be available - both public domain and commercial. The only print driver with source code I've found thus far is a free (but not public domain) driver for HP Deskjet printers. I will probably attempt to modify that driver if I can't find anything else. Bottom line: does anyone have information about source code to print drivers or pointers to documentation on how to write print drivers? Thanks.
