Is there anything inherently wrong with buying a refurbished computer? Suppose I am interested in brand X computer for an institutional setting (i.e., not a home computer), and will be getting X's on-site service. The dealer gives me a choice of a new computer or one (same model) which has been used for several years, and can be bought at a substantial (say 50%) discount. My general feeling is that as long as we're getting field service, there's nothing wrong with an older machine, and that in fact an older one probably won't have any of the "start-up" bugs which new units sometimes have. I'd be interested in hearing any views on this. Dave ("how can I pass up that offer?")
