One of the regular NetHack players at our site has had the game panic a couple of times in "freeinv". Does anybody have patches (or even some idea of what is wrong)? The following is a transcript of his problem... ************************************************************************ I was (literally) just about to score 2 billion points ( I was just checking to ensure that I REALLY was fire resistant [ who knows what resistance a poison breathing dragon endows ] before heading on down into hell ) when the bloody system blew up on me again!!! Aaargh. It takes ages to get a Ninja strong. When it blew up on me I was in the middle of dropping items on level 20. The items I had on me, incidentally, looked nothing like the ones shown below. Please tell me you can fix this thing. ERROR: freeinv--More-- Weapons b - a -1 shuriken. b - a +0 shuriken. G - 33 +0 darts. D - a +0 spear. j - a cursed +0 katana. f - a cursed +0 long sword. You were level 13 with a maximum of 92 hit points when you panicked. ************************************************************************ Thanks, Michael Paddon ============== =========================== UUCP: {seismo,mcvax,ukc,ubc-vision}!munnari!mwp ARPA: mwp%munnari.oz@seismo.css.gov CSNET: mwp%munnari.oz@australia

It seems like that a similar bug was fixed sometime after 2.2 was released. Did that fix ever make it into 2.3? Does the person who posted that fix want to recheck the new source to see? If it's the same bug, I'll bet it occurred when dropping things with the "D" command, then specifying several types of items to drop. - - - - - - - - - - Steve Creps, Indiana University, Bloomington, "home of the Hoosiers" creps@silver.bacs.indiana.edu (192.12.206.2) {pur-ee,ihnp4!inuxc,rutgers,pyramid}!iuvax!silver!creps creps@iubacs.bitnet (forwarded) "To dream... the unlintable dream..."
