[net.micro] Heath/Zenith Z100 review in Byte

kfl@5941ux.UUCP (Kenton Lee) (01/10/84)

Byte has finally reviewed our favorite home
computer (Jan., 1984 issue). The review is
generally favorable, claiming that the Z100 is
superior hardware to the IBM PC. The Z100 also has
8 bit CP/M capability (Heath format diskettes).

After reading the Jan. BYTE review of the Z-100, I wanted more information
about the machines. I got the phone for the Zenith office listed in BYTE
from the operator. Zenith referred me to a division called Zenith Distributors
of Illinois (where I live). I contacted a salesperson there, and asked for
a list of delaers, and sales literature. This on Wednesday afternoon.
I received the literature in the following day's mail. ZDof Ill also
gave me the name of a dealer about 5 miles from my home. I was very
impressed with the promptness of their organization in sending the
sales literature. I also asked ZD of Ill why Zenith does not advertise
in the home computer magazines such as BYTE. It appears that Zenith is
advertising in business magazines almost exclusively.
Can anyone confirm this??
Has anyone ever seen an ad for the Z-100??
Anyway, if the after sale support from Zenith is as good as the
before sale support was then the Z-100 might be a good system to buy.
