This has probably been discussed before, but here goes... We are looking for a nice, low-cost printer for the following tasks: * Print drafts of Bell Labs style documents (nroff/troff). * Print programs listings. * Print Viewgraphs (foils, transparencies, overheads, whatever...). These needs imply roman, italics, and bold capailities, with superscripts, subscripts, and some greek symbols and graphics. Also, for the viewgraph work, some kind of double-high AND double-wide capability is needed. It will probably be used over a 1200 baud phone link, though direct-connect to a frame is not impossible in the future, so 120 cps is probably a minimum speed requirement. We will weigh cost versus capability, so there is no restrictions on price for this study. Any input would be appreciated. R.J. Hanson Bell Labs IW 1A-407 x7663 ihuxp!hanson

#N::31500004:000:363 !bob Jan 12 08:53:00 1984 I'm looking for a dot matrix printer in the approximately $500 range with print quality better than the Epson MX (such as the Prowriter) but with serial & parallel interfaces, which could be available via plug- in cards. The parallel interface would be used with an Apple 2+. Any suggestions? R.L. Carroll BTL WH 201-386-2609 harpo!bob
