I have just been informed of another error in our nethack, here at Oakland University. We are currently running an un-changed 3.0, with patches 1-4 applied. We have the pretty standard problem with shops buying un-purchased items back. This next error was sent to me by a user. Preliminary data: The user read a scroll of punishment and decided to pick up his iron ball and wielded it. All was find, bashing monsters with the ball till he decided to go down stairs. It gave him an error (unknown message content) saying to talk to me about me getting his character working again. I went into the /save directory and his character had a .e included in the title. Renamed it without the .e, and he went on. Next scroll he read was a teleport scroll. Got the same error as above, but on the save a segmentation fault error. I assume his character is gone. Haven't checked the save directory to see if there is a save file, but I doubt there is. Thought the nethack wizards should know. Terry Steyaert steyaert@unix.secs.oakland.edu
