Whose "short" will hold 100000? At least my cc warns me :-)/:-(. Now I know that's a parochial/provincial/hayseed question. I realize that there are/may_be computers on which sizeof(char)== sizeof(short)==sizeof(int)==sizeof(long)==etc., but on your average run-of-the mill 32-bit machine patterned after the VAX architecture (loosely, maybe, but still ...) most folks have char==1, short==2, int==long==4, don't we?
