Just a reminder that in order to be considered for STOC '91, abstracts must be received by Nov. 7 (or postmarked by Nov. 3 and sent airmail). Also note that the rules for length of paper have significantly changed this year. Whereas before the typical requirement was 10 pages double-spaced (about 2,500 words), the current requirement is 10 pages, excluding cover page and bibliography, with roughly 35 lines/page (roughly 4,500 words in total). Authors who feel a need to include details to substantiate the claims of the paper that would push them beyond the 10-page limit can put them in a clearly marked appendix, which will be read at the discretion of the program committee. The program committee believes that these requirements come much closer to reflecting actual recent practice. One consequence, however, is that these guidelines will be taken much more seriously than they were in the past. Papers significantly deviating from these guidelines will be rejected.
