                      FACULTY POSITION IN COMPUTER SCIENCE

     The department of Computer Science at the UNIVERITY OF NORTH TEXAS at
 Denton invites applications for tenure track faculty positions at the
 Assistant or Associate level. A Ph.D. in Computer Science and evidence of
 a strong commitment to research and teaching are required.  A distinguished
 research record is required for an applicant at a senior rank. Salary is
 competitive, and start-up funds are available. Applicants in all areas of
 computer science are encouraged although the department has a special need
 for faculty in networks, compilers and programming languages, and software
 engineering.

     The department consists of 22 full-time faculty and includes a Sequent
 Symmetry (8 processors), two Intel Hypercubes (32 and 8 processors),
 a transputer network, and individual faculty and student workstations. This
 growing department offers BS/MS/PhD programs to approximately 450 undergraduate
 and 220 graduate majors including 75 in the PhD program.

     The department houses the "Center for Research in Parallel and Distributed
 Computing (CRPDC)", and has research concentrations in such areas as parallel
 and distributed algorithms, VLSI, operating systems, theoretical computer
 science, databases, AI, pattern recognition, and neural networks.

     UNT is an emerging national research institution with excellent facilities
 to support both research and teaching in the vibrant and rapidly expanding
 Dallas/Fort Worth metropoliton area with 775 regular faculty and over 27,000
