[comp.theory] THe demagogue

nacer@mist.CS.ORST.EDU (Abdenacer Moussaoui C.) (01/21/91)

                  The Demagogue President.

There have never been more hope for world peace hovering
over the horizon than in this year. President Bush, a man
of impulsive bold actions, wants to spoil this rare moment
of gentleness. He is ready to flex his muscles only against
small countries. When it comes to big ones he shrinks;
precisely he closes his eyes. He magnifies his future
victims. He blows them out of proportions.

Take for instance Iraq. There are thirteen million people
mostly peasants chocked in a land locked in a desert. This
is what was crafted by the British intrigues from an empire
that stretched from the Atlantic to the far reaches of the
Indian Ocean. This is Mesopotamia: the cradle of
civilization and technology. This is the country of the
great emperor Harun El-Rachid for whom the famous "One
Thousand And One Nights Stories" where written.

Iraq went to war with Iran over some islands that where
taken by the soldiers of the infamous Shah. Iraq resisted
during eight years of sufferings and sacrifice. That war
between two neighbors was entertained mainly by American
arms because the US government wanted revenge for the
American embassy spies trapped like nasty rats in Teheran.
Saudi Arabia and Kuwait financed the holocaust. There was
more than two million dead and wounded between the two
unfortunate countries. The hawks in Israel were feasting as
long there was war. That was disclosed by the officials of
that country in American newspapers. The end of the war
found Iraq economically bankrupt, but with one million
soldiers strong. Can you see the US with thirty million
people in arms? The sheikh of Kuwait was already pressing
hard for payments of bills supposed contracted during the
war. The only possible serious activities where military
ones, including military scientific research. All countries
are doing it. President Bush is calling President Saddam
worse than Hitler. This is an insult to the spirit of the
millions who died in the concentration camps. Did Saddam
write a Mein Kampf? Is his Baath party equivalent to the
Nazi party? Does he have SS troops burning non Arabs? Of
course non of these terrifying things happily exist in Iraq.
Bush is singling out Iraq for possessing chemical weapons
and doing research in nuclear armaments. Doesn't the US
have the biggest stock pile of chemical, biological, nuclear
weapons, and major advances in SDI research? Is France
disarming its Force de Frappe? How about Britain, China,
India Israel? Isn't Pakistan, South Africa, South Korea,
Argentina, and most other countries doing the same? Iraq did
gas some of its enemies; so did the US in Vietnam. Iraq
didn't explode a nuclear device ; Uncle Sam did twice on
Japan without hesitation, and accidently on its own
citizens. Didn't we hear recently on the mass media that
the US might bomb Baghdad with nuclear weapons? Does Iraq
have till now a chemist, a physicist, a mathematician, an
engineer a scientist that Nazi Germany had? Does Iraq have
the equivalent of an Heidelberg, or Max Planck institut?
Does it have a Krupp iron works? Does Iraq manufacture
massive panzers? None of these of course. So how can the
grave and irresponsible accusation be true? Bush is
confusing the dragonfly with the real dragon. Mister Bush
should go back to school to study the art of concrete world
history and leave the wild craft of propaganda and demagogy
which doesn't suite any serious American in general, nor any
respectful American president in particular.

Regardless of the merits of the action in the Gulf, I am sure all of us will
agree that this is NOT the approprate news-group for discussing the action
in the Persian Gulf. Such material should be posted in alt.desert-shield.

Does anybody filter the postings to this group? How did this piece of
propaganda get here? Just because the arguments in the posting are
intractible, doesn't mean that it should be considered a
piece on intractibility theory :-)

Mr. Moussaoui - please keep this propaganda crap ("The demagogue
President") out of this serious newsgroup!!

Yours,
