                      AMAST '91

            Supporting Grants for Students


                           	Iowa City, February 8-th, 1991.

To Whom It May Concern:

The goal of this letter is to let you know the
application procedure for student grants supporting
attendance at the second AMAST conference.

We do not have a special form to be completed in order to
apply for a student grant. You should apply by sending
a letter, endorsed by your Departmental Executive Officer,
to the address below.

Eligibility criteria include paper submission to the conference,
relationship of your field of expertise to the goals of the
conference, and how soon your thesis completion is anticipated.
You need not meet all these criteria in order to get the grant.

The letter of application should reach us before

                 APRIL 15th, 1991,

in order to be considered. We will notify you as soon
as possible of the outcome of your application.
If approved, a check will be made payable to you at the conference site.

The maximum amount we can offer is $150. We may ask you to spend
some of this money at the conference, covering your registration fee,
riverboat banquet, Friday evening banquet.
