Churchman, Mason, Mitroff and others studied dialectical inquiring systems (DIS) in order to generate management information systems (MIS) that would encourage the user to create his/her own view on the subject matter. These studies took place in the late 60's and in the 70's. Does anyone know whether there still exists research in the dialectical approach to information systems OR to strategic planning?
