[net.micro] A Terminnal to Avoid

knudsen@ihnss.UUCP (02/02/84)

There are now several makes of "intelligennt" CRT terminals on the market
for unnder $500. Do nnot buy the TTX Model 3000. We have had ours for
a month or so, and as you can see, the keyboard very quickly develops a
stutter onn one or more keys.  I'm typing onn someone else's down the hall;
my usual one puts out from 0 to 3 letter C's for each one hit (Quiz:
what letter does this one like?)
	This terminal has lots of features, but some modes (like Baud rate,
which you may need to channge often) are DIP switches tucked wayy in the rear
(and unnlabeled), some are set up from the keyboard, and a few cann be changed
only by receiving escape sequences. The current states of the last category
can be founnd only by experiment. The slave printer port does not work right,
compared to our old reliable ADM-3's.

The above is my personnal opinion and in nno way reflects the views of AT&T
(unless management has TTX'w with keyboards from the same batch).
