I am a complete neophyte to music, but I have finally decided to take plunge and try for the piano. Now, I need advice. What should be my next step? Take beginning theory classes at the JC? Hire a teacher? Is it too early to consider buying a keyboard? An acoustic piano would be preferable, but space and financial considerations make this impossible. A local music store salesman suggested the Kawai mk10 and k1 as good alternatives, and at $399 and $550/used, affordable. How about the Yamaha YPR9? Other recommendations?
