I just bought a Yamaha PSR-36 portable keyboard, and intend to connect it to my IBM-PC compatible with Midi interface. The keyboard it self has a MIDI IN and MIDI OUT port. Since I'm new in this business I need some recommendation of which Midi interface and software to buy. I prefer a dumb Midi interface that connects to the serial port of my PC. As for the software I have no idea of what to buy, but since I'll be using it only for fun, I won't spend more than US$200 for that. It would be even better if it is a public domain software. Any kind of help will be appreciated. hartanto@cs.uiuc.edu

As for the software I have I've never heard of a MIDI interface that connects to a PC serial port. There are reasonably priced MIDI cards out there, though. I believe Music Quest in Plano, TX makes an entry-level one which is around $125-$150 or so? >no idea of what to buy, but since I'll be using it only >for fun, I won't spend more than US$200 for that. Cakewalk used to be bundled with one of Music Quest's MIDI cards for a pretty reasonable price, but I don't know if that deal still stands. -- David Sandberg dts@quad.uucp or ..uunet!rosevax!sialis!quad!dts
