The 1990 Simon Fraser University Summer Institute Music Intensive
is a one month workshop which includes practical studies in
compositional software design. Working on Atari and Macintosh
computers, participants create their own MIDI software using the
FORTH programming language. Artists in residence George Lewis
and David Rosenboom are two of the foremost musicians currently
working with experimental music software design.

Participation in the second component of the Intensive, Javanese
Gamelan (percussion orchestra) Performance, is also open to anyone
registered in the computer workshop.

This year's Intensive is to be held at the Western Front Lodge in
downtown Vancouver from July 3 through July 29 1990. For more
