From: Eric <LAVITSKY@RUTGERS.ARPA> Hi, Recently two friends experienced the same problem: Their drive did not seem to format track 1, but could read and write to track one. I have heard theories about how the arm banging into the stop can knock the drive out of whack, but am not clear on how the drive could still read and write to that track. Has anyone experienced the same problem? - What did you do to correct it? - Did you figure out what caused it? Also, I have heard some things about the new Commodore drives: My friends have seen disks with the DOS version number (the number and letter that follows the id number) '2B' , while we all know that the old standard is '2A'. - Has Commodore upgraded DOS?? I heard that the new drives (a ROM upgrade is supposedly available) are up to 25% faster than the old ones... Eric -------
