From: "Edward A. Ranzenbach" <Ranzenbach%his-phoenix-multics.arpa@BRL.ARPA>

I was the one who reported that I had received LDOS 5.1.4 for the
handling fee of $5.00. This offer is only available to those LDOS
owners who bought the extended service agreement. Unfortunately LSI
will not be continuing this practice in the future. They will honor all
ESAs in effect but once they expire I believe we must pay for updates.

Along the same lines, LSI is offering some great deals this quarter. In
an attempt to clear out their stock of software not written by them they
are offering any non-LSI software in stock at a 40% price cut. This is
an excellant opportunity for those LDOS users who would like the MISOSYS
LC compiler and EDAS IV macro-assembler package to pick it up at an
excellant price. The regualr price is $150.00 for both products but
they can now be had for a mere $90.00.

They are also discounting their own supported products by 30% and with
orders of $50.00 or more are providing FREE copies of past LDOS
quarterly magazines. This order must be postmarked between 840301 and
840315.

For those of you out there owning competitive DOSes (NEWDOS-80 or
DOSPLUS) if you would like to switch to LDOS simply send your DOS manual
and the original master DOS diskette to LDOS and they will send you LDOS
5.1.4 for just $64.50, 1/2 OFF THE NORMAL $129.00... OBTW, this offer
is also good for LDOS 5.0 owners.

They are also advertising some used, "but in good condition" hard disk
(TRS) systems. These come as is, no manuals or cables, $995.00 for a
primary and $695.00 for a secondary drive, plus shipping and handling.

They have announced that in the future they will not market any other
vendor's software but instead will hand select various products and put
the LSI name on them, taking all responsibility for support.

One more thing. They will no longer be producing the LDOS quaterly but
instead will be submitting to the publication Basic Computing. Those of
us with subscriptions to the LDOS quarterly have already been contacted
about this and will be sent the same number of BC issues that we would
have received from LSI.

I hope this has been of help... -ear
