This is a request for information about sound sampling on a PC. We are developing a multimedia system on a PC and need to be able to store and playback sound (speech, music etc.) Originally we were going to buy a midi sampler and down-load the sound to it via the midi interface. Calculations have shown that the download time would be far too long. All we need is a card with A-D and D-A conversion and some buffering. Can anyone make any suggestions? Would the IBM music feature card do? Can it only be used with its own software, or do they document how to write programs to drive it? Do the Adlib/Sound Blaster/Game Blaster cards have a D-A facility? Any help would be appreciated. Please email responses direct as well as to the board, since we sometimes lose usenet postings. amf@ecs.soton.ac.uk Andrew Fountain Tel: +44 703 592831 Dept of Electronics and Computer Science Fax: +44 703 593045 University of Southampton Telex: 47661 SOTONU G Southampton SO9 5NH England
