[comp.music] Singing Teacher Development Programme

musing, continued on what I think is achievable in a computerized singing
teacher program. Essentially all the capabilities I speak of are presently
available as stand alone. The problem comes when one tries to integrate
these functions. Different voltages, different languages, etc. etc.
I believe a good singing teacher would be a godsend for humanity as we
open our eyes [usenet] and find ourselves in the tower of babel. I have
no greater hope than that we in netland, worldbrain are the architects of
our own salvation, at least in part.
As I understand, Sanskrit is close to, if not the world's oldest language.
I thought that would be a good start for an exercise. I ran across the
BAGAVAD GITA translation by A.C. Baktivedanta Swami Shrila Prabupada at our
local San Jose, California, USA flea market. This is translated five times.
First is the original in the Sanskrit alphabet, second is a phonetic
transliteration [our alphabet, their sounds], third is a word for word
translation, fourth is a translation [phrase by phrase], and last is
what is called the "purport" [ kind of, as many words as you think necessary
to get the idea across.]
Then I found some audio tapes of people chanting or reading this several
thousand year old song. To be continued, maybe.
