Hi, Someone wishes to give me a keyboard as a gift. Any recommendations on 4-octave units, with reasonable builtin instruments, the ability to modify instrument envelops, and any other "goodies" thrown in? (I assume that most units offer only well-tempered tuning...) I saw the Casio CT-470 the other day, seemed nice, but I didn't spend much time looking at it. How about a nice tracker organ? ;-) You didn't really give enough information, like how much are you willing to spend, do you want "auto accompaniment," what kind of music do you want to play, etc. If I was just playing "traditional" music, and could only have one keyboard, I'd probably get a Korg M-1. (It's a good thing this isn't rec.music.synth or I'd get burned at the stake for saying that... ...It may happen here anyway!) They can be had for around $1300, but you may want something cheaper. I don't know much about the cheaper instruments. Good luck!
