I bought my H89 used with a 100K Hard-sectored SSSD drive and running HDOS. Everything was great until I ordered CP/M for it a few months ago. After a series of hardware upgrades and bad disk exchanges, I have a disk that I think works, it just doesn't always work. Most of the time, when I try to boot CP/M, I get the 2 line header about HEATH CP/M 2.2x03 for H17 drives, etc., then... BDOS ERROR ON A, SELECT: and then anything else I try to do I get ERROR DURING WARM BOOT, PRESS ANY KEY and any key I press, I keep getting that. But... I have also gotten the following messages when booting (after the 2 line header): INSERT DISK D IN DRIVE D: THEN HIT RETURN G G C C B B H M <-- !! A A E E I I The wierd part is hitting return after the C in C and the E in E messages will get CP/M to boot CORRECTLY. All the others just give the regular BDOS ERROR ON A:, SELECT message. It seems to have something to do with what disk is in it before hand, because I can try to boot a non-bootable disk, then try to boot CP/M again and it'll usually do something different. Once I do get CP/M booted, everything is fine, I can read all other CP/M disks and make back-ups and everything. No, I can't boot the backup I make of the system disk, I thought about that, too. I have looked at the rotational speed of my disk drive, and while it was a little outside the recommended tollerance, correcting it has no apparent effect. I'm hoping someone can read through all this and say "oh, yeah, i saw that happen once before!" That's the only way I can see my being able to fix it, otherwise I guess I'll have do drag it to San Antonio (the nearest Heath Service Center). ANY help anyone can give will be GREATLY appreciated.....Thanks. --King Ables USMail: Computation Center, Univ. of Texas, Austin, Texas 78712 ARPA: ables@ut-ngp UUCP: {ctvax,ihnp4,kpno,seismo}!ut-sally!ut-ngp!ables
