[comp.music] MIDI help Wanted

allmon@ncuvx3.llnl.gov (01/05/91)

I am looking for any and all advice on MIDI hardware and software.
My present setup is as follows:

Casio CZ1000 keyboard
Yamaha DD5 drum machine (Yes I know but it is MIDI and only $50 new)
Macintosh Plus computer
Boss 8 channel stereo mixer
Fender Precision Bass
Various effects, amps, mics etc.

My questions:

I need a MIDI interface for my Macintosh. With a keyboard and a drum machine
will I need one with at least 2 inputs?? Most seem to only have one in and
one out except the Opcode Studio Plus II which has 2 in and 6 out and other
more expensive interfaces which seem to have more bells and whistles than I
really need.

What is a decent (and reasonable) sequencer for the Mac? I read the specs
on Opcodes EZ Vision which seemed like it would do what I want. Anybody out
there who uses this have any opinions on it or other sequencers??

Can you still get RAM cartridges for the CZ1000?? Is it better to get one
with sounds or blank?? I have about 200 patches on paper that I can load in
to it if I have to.

Anybody have any of this stuff that they would like to sell??

This is a home hobby setup so I don't want to spend a fortune on this but my
intent is to be able to have the MIDI stuff play automatically while I play
along on the Bass or other instruments and achive a complete band sound.

Thanks in advance
