[comp.music] Tiger

rdf@pinet.aip.org (Robert Feinman) (01/11/91)

I have been using Dr.T's Tiger on an Atari ST for the past several weeks
and have encountered a large number of bugs. Has anyone made extensive use
of this program, and if so what has the experience been?
Some of the symptoms: Computer locks up when program is exited.
Clearing all tracks and setting new song length to 8 measure causes
two bombs.
Can't get meter set to 6/8 time. Always sets it to 3/4.
Port assignments contain non-ascii characters instead of A-D.
Attempt to Quantize whole track -> 2 bombs.
etc.,etc.

In general this seems like an interesting program, but it is very frustrating
in its present condition. I am using Midisoft Studio as a sequencer and
exporting Midi type 1 files to Tiger. There seem to be some
slight differences in file formats, but in general must of the information
transfers back and forth.

In reference to Robert Feinman's post on Tiger: I am using Tiger Cub on
an amiga and other than the user interface being non intuitive at one
particular point, I have not seen any problems yet. I just seem to
start it recording at inoportune times due to the use of right mouse
button as a start/play button. This is a crime in the amiga. That
button should only be used as a menu puller. I have used Tiger about
8 hours now and still hit the right mouse button at the wrong time at
least 5 times a session. At least it goes to a new track when I do that
so nothing is destroyed, just annoyed!.

PS. I initially forgot the name of The dead physist r. feinman was
Richard and though Robert was a reincarnation or something.
