ddern%bbn-unix@sri-unix.UUCP (02/07/84)

From: Daniel Dern <ddern@bbn-unix>

Is there any application software available for animal-related activities, e.g.

  - pedigree (charts) and breeding info
  - kennel management
  - veterinary diagnostics, etc
  - farm, dairy oriented stuff

Package, vendor names appreciated.

YOU MIGHT TRY CONTACTING INTEL TO SEE WHAT THEY MAY HAVE. IN TODAY'S
WALL STREET JOURNAL (2/8/84, P.12), THEY HAD AN AD FOR A SYSTEM THEY
WORKED ON FOR DAIRY CATTLE MANAGEMENT. IT INVOLVED A SPECIAL MICROCHIP
THE COW WOULD WEAR ON HER COLLAR (SON OF BUFFALO CHIP?). PERHAPS THAT'S
WHY THERE'S A SHORTAGE OF CHIPS FOR THE IBM PC.

Nutritional Software Systems sells dairy ration balancing packages
which run under CP/M and MSDOS.

One of the largest vendors of farm related software is,
believe it or not, Radio Shack. Just drop by one of their
computer centers for a listing of their product line.
I don't know anything else about this; just the simple
fact.
