There will be an opening at Oberlin for 91-92 for an instructor or
assistant professor of electronic and computer music.  The duties
will include teaching of undergraduate courses in sound synthesis,
MIDI applications, recording technique, and electroacoutic
composition.

in the MRD.

Do you know about the ISO effort in this arena, which stems from the
work done by the X3V1.8M committee of the American National Standards
Institute?  If not, I'll try to send you some info about it.  Send me

P.S.  From the information I can send you, you will suppose that
Standard Music Description Language is extremely verbose.  It can be,
but it need not be, thanks to a number of optimizing capabilities
inherent in Standard Generalized Markup Language (ISO 8879-1986).
However, to use SMDL, you're going to need an SGML parser, which is
not an easy thing to find just yet.
