I wonder if the optional C/MS chips advertised in the catalog that came with my soundblaster card are worth buying. They provide an addition of 12 voices of stereo C/MS music, but I wonder if they also provide separate and accessible D/A converters for each channel. I'm also looking for a program that would give me an easy and user-friendly way of entering music data to be played with the excellent Sound Tracker software, or any software routines to write such program. I'm also thinking of starting a mailing list for people interested in sharing their interest and knowledge about the SoundBlaster card (especially programming it). If you're interested in joining such a group, please mail me a short message. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sylvain Gingras Dept. of Computer Science (519) 885-1211 Ext. 3579 University of Waterloo Waterloo, Ontario, N2L 3G1 sgingras@violet.waterloo.edu

The C/MS chips simply supply 12 voices of AM music. They do not affect the D/A section, or the FM (Adlib) section. You can also buy these chips from a generic supplier, although _I_ do not remember the correct chips to order. > I'm also thinking of starting a mailing list for people interested in > sharing their interest and knowledge about the SoundBlaster card > (especially programming it). I prefer the FM sound of AdLib chips. C/MS have square wave sounds.

There are no D/A converters in C/MS chips (alias Philips SAA1099) and
they don't need external ones.
