I am a guitarist (who dabbles in keyboards) with a four-track recorder and a Mac Plus. I am looking for a synth to get into sequencing. I was hoping I could get some advice on what products people might recommend. The important features to me include: MIDI (of course <-:) Full sized keyboard (preferrably velocity-sensitive) (number of keys is unimportant) Multi-timbral (of course <-:) Polyphonic (of course <-:) at least 8 voices A decent* piano sound A decent* string (violin, etc.) sound A decent* woodwind sound (*decent: so far the only one's I've liked are sampled sounds) I was very impressed by the Roland U-220 (or is it just U-20?), but it was going to cost about $1500. I definately don't want to spend more than $1500, and since I'm not a keyboard player (yet <-:), I'd prefer to spend less. I do insist that the sounds be recognizable -- they don't have to be great -- I just want people to be able to tell that the string part is suppossed to be strings without me telling them. If anyone has advice for me, please E-mail me at malirath@ccwf.cc.utexas.edu. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanx, Malirath aka Robert Fisher malirath@ccwf.cc.utexas.edu
