Hi, I don't know if this is the appropriate group to post this. But what the heck. If there is somebody who can help me and is nice enough... then I don't mind all the bitchin' about "this is not the appropriate group". My question is: Are the BSX speakers advertised in the DAK catalogue any good? I'm referring to the Satellite and subwoffer set selling for 249. In the catalogue they say they are better than equivalent Bose, Acoustic Research and Boston acoustic equivalent. But, then, it is quite naive to believe what a salesman tells you. Anybody has had any experience with those speakers? Even if they are not better than the Bose ones, but are even close, it might be a good deal. Is it? As everybody, I just want the best speakers I can get for my money (big problem is, I don't have much of that). In case you guys haven't heard of the BSX advertised in DAK, but care to give me some good piece of advice, you'll be very welcome. I know very little about hi-fi equipment. I just know having good speakers is 80% of having good sound. Thanks to you all in advance. |-----------------------------------|-----------------------------------------| | Josep Maria Fontana, | e-mail: fontana@linc.cis.upenn.edu | | 3940 Locust Walk (MLCH) | phone: (215) 573-8426 | | Philadelphia, PA 19104 | |

Hi--I have the same catalog and sure the stuff in there looks good and I am going to order a few things. BSX used to be, if memory serves, a British outfit but someone else may have bought the name. Please post your results as I think this could be a good resource. I have Boston Acoustics for my stereo and have had for 11 years and they are **MARVELLOUS**. Mine are the smaller bookshelf jobs. Two friends had their huge ones and they were fabulous but not too much of an improvement over my smaller ones. My local audiophile sales house thinks they are some of the very best (they= Boston Ac.)
