Our Library system makes use of AOS/VS modem support to clear network calls made to consult our library catalogue. We use an IAC8 connected to a PAD. When the users quits the catalogue the IAC drops DTR and the PAD clears the call. Our problem is that the IAC8 doesn't raise DTR again to be ready for the next caller for 10 seconds, although our software is ready to open the line again after 2 seconds. During this time incoming calls either fail or hang. We have AOS/VS 7.60 I'm told that if we upgrade to the latest version (7.67 ??) there are parameters that can be set that might help us. The solution is a switch to the CHARACTERISTICS command, /THC, which was added as of AOS/VS 7.62. /THC takes a value in milliseconds, so, to solve the above problem, you'd use CHARACTERISTICS/THC=2000 -- Data General customers who are experiencing problems with their systems or have questions about DG products are strongly urged to contact their Data General support representative for assistance. --Data General Support
