[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.domains] Primary servers looping *.rev requests

todd@Quotron.COM (Todd_Booth) (01/26/91)

Our two (only two) primary quotron.com name servers are:

premises1.quotron.com (sun os 4.0)
ns.quotron.com (sun os 4.1)

I've set them both up as primary name servers for quotron.com and 130.224.x.y
but when I'm logged on to either host and issue "host 130.224.y.z" where
130.224.y.z is not in the quotron.rev file, a loop is started between premises1
and ns (domain requests and replies go forever).

I changed premises1 to a cache only server and had the same problem.

Should the SOA on each primary point to themselves or to the same primary?

Should I list both primaries as IN NS, only the local server as IN NS,
or both to the same primary?

Thanks,
