[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.domains] wrong info from root domain servers?

stanonik@NPRDC.NAVY.MIL (Ron Stanonik) (01/30/91)

Just about all email to us stopped in the last day or so.
When I queried ns.nic.ddn.mil for any MX records for nprdc.navy.mil,
the answer I received was nprdc.navy.mil. That's wrong,
and could be a big part of the problem. (Being on the milnet
doesn't help, and having an at&t 3b2 for a gateway is no asset
either.) Our domain servers seem to be returning the correct answer,
aegean.nprdc.navy.mil. The other root servers return no answers,
just additional NS records for our name servers. (Which is what I'd
expect.) So, where is ns.nic.ddn.mil getting an MX for us? ... And
how can I stop it!

Thanks,

Ron Stanonik
