[net.micro] UT got Mac attacked, but it didn't do me any good

mcmillan@eosp1.UUCP (John McMillan) (02/22/84)

Would a Princeton student please set me straight on the details of this
note? I understand that Princeton is offering MACs to its students at
$1255, not $1055. As I heard it, either the University, or the University
Store, is taking a commission on each machine.

Please note that this rather greedy strategy will put quite a damper on the
desire of any students to sell MACs to the black market for $1300...

Saw an article in our local paper that we were one of the 20 schools
that are able to buy the Mac for $1000. But, only the school can
buy them at that price; staff, faculty, and students cannot. Are
any other schools which received the Mac offer under similar
stipulations? From what I originally heard, all the above groups
would be able to buy them at the discounted price.
