Heard on PBS tonight (Tues. Feb 21): The Wall Street Journal had a story today indicating the PCjr is not selling as well as expected, and that the Macintosh may be the reason. I can't see the connection myself, as their prices are quite different, but I haven't read the story. In any case, IBM stock dropped 3/8 to 108 and a bit and Apple stock rose 1 3/4 to 26 3/4 (the deltas are correct, the prices only approximately so). By the way, I've heard about a new PBS programme, called "The Computer Chronicles", which looks a bit like a TV version of Infoworld, with weekly news, software and hardware reviews, and interviews with Silicon Valley celebrities. It's produced by KCSM, San Mateo. I think it's already being shown, though not on all PBS stations. The concept sounds good, but the producer of the program said some fairly naive things during an interview, so I'm prepared to be disappointed. p. rowley, U. Toronto
